When we think of Barcelona, a cosmopolitan city with great cultural, business, financial and touristic importance springs to mind. It is one of the most visited cities on the European circuit. It is not strange given its great cultural offering with museums like the Fundació Joan Miró, Picasso Museum or the art found in the streets. Las Ramblas de Barcelona, its markets, its squares give a special air to the city. Icons such as the Sagrada Familia, Parque Güell are a meeting point for Antoni Gaudi’s architecture. Barcelona also offers beaches and local food. Undoubtedly, it is a magnificent destination. This pretty coastal village in the province of Barcelona has the essence of a fishing village, with one of the most interesting historic quarters where we can find architectural jewels like the Trinidad de Sitges hermitage or the Church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla. It is known for the International Fantastic Film Festival and for being a key destination for LGBT tourism. It has a great offering of leisure activities as well as its beaches.
Malgrat De Mar
Along the north of the Costa de Barcelona we have Malgrat de Mar, with 4.5 kilometres of extensive beaches with white sand, totally equipped to invite you to spend the day at the seaside. In the historic quarter we have monuments like the Iglesia de Sant Nicolau (18th century) or the Peixateries Velles (19th century). Malgrat de Mar has the Parque del Castell and its splendid panorama. On the other side we have the Parque Frances Macià which is full of sculptures, botanical paths, play and picnic areas…
Arenys De Mar
Another coastal village near to Barcelona, located on the Costa del Maresme, ideal for good holidays is Arenys de Mar. It is recognised for its excellent beaches and for conserving its seafaring origins from the 14th century which turned them into an important commercial point. From this time there still remain defence towers in Llobet and Carrer Ample. Wondering through la Rambla, at the foot of the Santa Maria church, the modern-style Town Market or the Seafront Promenade alongside the sport and fishing port permeates every holiday with an authentic Mediterranean flavour.
Sant Pere De Ribes
In the Garraf region we have Sant Pere de Ribes, situated 35 kms from Barcelona in el Penedés. A charming village with notable monuments such as the tower of Sota Ribes and its cultural activities, traditions, popular dances, castles and giants.
It has several tourist trails for hikers which go around the Garraf mountain. It is an enclave between the mountain and the beach very near to Sitges.
Canet De Mar
Canet de Mar is a fishing village in the Maresme region with a fishing and tourist tradition. It is located between the Montnegre mountain range and the sea. Its beaches, Playa de Canet, Cavaio, Pla de Sant Crist or Rocas Blancas are ideal for enjoying the sun and the sea. The town has an artistic and architectural heritage linked to modernism. It has houses in this style, such as Casa Roura, House-Museum Domenech, Montaner and the Ateneo Canetense. We can visit places such as the Misericordia Sanctuary (neogothic), the Sant Pere church (16th century), the Villa Flora Park or the Pedracastell mountain with its impressive cross and views.
Sant Pol De Mar
The small coastal town of Sant Pol de Mar hides many very interesting architectural secrets, such as the Sant Pau monastery or the Morer Roman Ruins. It is a village that was home to fishermen and from where an ancient Benedictine monastery takes its origins. On its beaches we can enjoy the excellent temperatures of the Catalan coast, water sports and regional cuisine based on fresh fish and homegrown agricultural produce.
An ideal destination to enjoy holidays in contact with nature, the sun and the sea is Santa Susanna. An enclave with kilometres of wide beaches, fine sand and surrounded by pine forests. For lovers of waters sports, the Nautical Station is ideal; it makes it easy to go sailing, windsurfing and diving or other activities. On the other hand, nature lovers can enjoy trips and activities to the open air in the Montenegre-Corredor Natural Park. Santa Susanna has preserved lookout towers built in the 15th and 18th centuries to defend against pirates.
Surrounded by the Montnegre Natural Park, we have Tordera. Its nature and landscapes invite you to go hiking in the Turo de N’Alomar and on the banks of the Tordera river.
